Why we run these Ages 5 to 10 · four children a session

School holidays can turn into an overstimulation mess for both kids and parents. These sessions are designed to give you a screen-free school holiday activity where your child comes home regulated rather than overstimulated. Wouldn’t that be nice!

Workshop one

Bees need three things

Bees need three things to get through spring: food, water and somewhere to live. Over two and a half hours your child will make, and take home:

  • A bee hotel
  • A pebble waterer
  • Pollinator friendly seedlings.

This is the perfect way to welcome bees and insects to your garden this spring. Workshops are limited to 4 children.

Workshop two

Hammered Flowers

In this workshop, your child will learn a technique called hapa-zome, where they hammer flower colour into a calico bag. It is very satisfying for small hands! Over two and a half hours your child will make and take home:

  • A tote bag decorated with their flower colour hammered into the fabric
  • A decorated pot with spring seeds and seedlings
  • A wrapped posy for whoever collects them.

The printed bag is a keepsake rather than a school bag, because hammered petal colour softens over time. Workshops are limited to 4 children.

How the workshops run
01

Each workshop is limited to four children

Every child has their own tools, their own soil and their own bench space. Limited numbers help maintain the calm and space to do their own thing, when they want.

Screen free from start to finish

No screens, just time in the garden and things to keep their hands and brains busy.

Everything goes home the same day

Each session is built as three or four short jobs rather than one long project, so every child finishes everything and carries it all out the door.

Real tools and real jobs

Children this age rise to being trusted with proper snips and a working garden. I show them how, and then I let them do it to build their confidence in the garden.

A working flower farm

This isn’t your standard holiday craft room! The flowers they cut and the seedlings they pot are the same ones I grow for the flower subscriptions and pollinator packs.

Parents

Parents are welcome to stay, and encouraged to stay and enjoy time in the garden with us if you anticipate your child may need extra support in the session.

What to wear and bring

Please dress your child in clothes that can get dirty, a hat, and a snack for our break. All other materials and tools are provided.

Please let me know if your child has any allergies, access or inclusion requirements ahead of time.

Booking $69 per child

Two small workshops, limited numbers.

Places are limited to four children per session, so they go quickly. If the session you want is full, get in touch and we will let you know when the next one opens.
